Thalapathy Vijay’s Mersal is all set to become the first Tamil film to have a theatrical release in China. HGC Entertainment, distributors of Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 has snapped the China theatrical release (dubbed) of Mersal from Sri Thenandal Films, original producers of the film.
Mersal is also the second South Indian film after Baahubali to have a theatrical release in China. HGC Entertainment’s President Li Ying feels that the plot of Mersal is very touching and it will work at the China box office.
According to Variety, Chinese film ‘Dying to Survive’ which is based on the flaws in the medical system grossed more than $400 million so Mersal is also having the potential to score big at the box office.
Previously’s Shankar’s Ai was supposed to have a release in China but due to various reasons, the film’s producer Aascar Ravichandran couldn’t find a proper buyer.
