She is very right in her refusal to accept the award,In fact South Indian Artsits are not given its due share in getting National awards for that matter south Indian is neglected in all sphere of national awards be it be sports/litrature/etcetc.Eminent artists who are deprived and have contributed to this nation's culture and art are in their nineties and some are heve departed also longing for some recogonition.

Lobbying should be a thing of the Past
Local, Regional and Religious considerations should have no part in Awards

Yes she is right. Transparency should be the guide to Awards
Not the "jagir" of a few Politicians/ Bureaucrats to be doled out to sycophants

She has done the right thing! The Punjabi community that dominates the relevant Central ministry since independence (like Information Broadcasting, Culture) has succeeded in conveying to the world that North Indian culture (or Indian culture as corrupted by the Moghul influence) is Indian culture! Phew! Boy, is it Indian culture? The men from the South in the Central government and in public life have no tes**cles and I am happy that Madam Janaki has the guts to call a spade a spade. The Centre has no credentials to honour Madam Janaki. Even the Karnataka government has not given Janaki her due although she was the lead female singer in the Kannada film industry for decades! I cannot keep count of the glorious Kannada film songs she has rendered! They are still ringing in my ears! May God bless you with a long and healthy life Madam! Until my last day on this planet, I would like to hear your voice. I welcome your decision! Forgive them, Madam. Sw**nes cannot appreciate pearls!

Everybody has their own right to protest, but in this case I don't see anything in North/South divide. Though southern representation at every level is less than northern but that does not lead to protest. Let us not make this also a TV like debate which does not have any end result and still people boil their blood for half hour.

I don't agree with her decision. She deserves it. Nothing wrong in accepting the award and fighting for the cause.
