"Frankenstein" co-stars Jonny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch are competing for the best actor prize at London's Evening Standard Theater Awards.

They alternated the roles of Victor Frankenstein and his monstrous creature in director Danny Boyle's production.

They're up against Bertie Carvel for "Matilda: The Musical" and Charles Edwards for "Much Ado About Nothing."

Best actress contenders announced Monday are Kristin Scott Thomas for "Betrayal," Samantha Spiro for "Chicken Soup With Barley" and Sheridan Smith for "Flare Path."

Best-play finalists are Gina Gionfriddo's "Becky Shaw," ''Tribes" by Nina Raine and two plays by Richard Bean — climate-change comedy "The Heretic" and knockabout farce "One Man, Two Guvnors."

Winners will be announced Nov. 20.
