Bollywood starlet Laila Khan who is of Pakistani origin, has been missing for nearly one-and-a-half-years along with her family members from Mumbai. City police registered a kidnapping case against two persons, including a family friend who is currently in the custody of Jammu & Kashmir Police on July 4. Today, it has been revealed that Laila along with four family members was shot dead in Mumbai.

The case was registered in Oshiwara police station by Laila's father Nadir Patel. The investigations have been taken over by the Crime Branch, the police confirmed.

The accused duo, Parvez Tak and Aasif Shaikh, have been booked under section 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Parvez who is currently in the custody of Jammu & Kashmir police, revealed details of the murder.

According to the complaint, Laila, along with six other family members - mother Shelina Patel (50), elder sister Hazmina, twin siblings Zara and Imran, and a relative - were allegedly kidnapped by the two accused in February 2011 from her flat in suburban Oshiwara.

Patel had registered a missing persons complaint soon after, followed by a fresh complaint on July 4, 2012.

Laila was last seen in Bollywood movie Wafaa with actor Rajesh Khanna.

The last call records of Laila's mobile phone showed her at Nashik, said the police. They added that Laila had a farm house at Igatpuri, Nashik district.

Maharashtra ATS has started probing if the starlet was involved in any anti-national activities.

"From Igatpuri, Laila, along with her family members left the farm house in February itself and told the caretaker that they were going to Jammu and Kashmir to attend a wedding, from where they seem to have disappeared. Our work is to locate them and see where they might be," said a senior crime branch official yesterday.

Parvez was closely associated with Laila's family and had allegedly driven a four-wheeler from Maharashtra to Kishtwar in Jammu & Kashmir. But his recent revelation regarding Laila & her family's death puts a new spin on the case.
