Noida, Nov 6 (IANS) FM station Radio Mirchi has turned two of its popular shows -- "Meethi Mirchi" and "Purani Jeans" -- into specific stations only for mobile users. Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali, who has here for the launch Tuesday, believes these are a step ahead towards development in the entertainment world.
"It is a step ahead (in development) because a lot of people have bikes and they cannot listen to radio. Lot of people travel in buses and cabs, and they can't tune into what they want to tune into. With this, they can listen to what they like," Ali told IANS.
The two shows have been very popular, and will continue running on Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM. But they will also be available as separate stations -- Meethi Mirchi, a melody radio station and Purani Jeans, a retro music channel -- on Radio Mirchi's value-added services platform Mirchi Mobile.
They can be subscribed to at a pre-fixed rental with service providers like Airtel, Idea, Vodafone and Reliance as of now.
Ali, 42, says he found the concept "interesting".
"I would definitely like to have something like this on my phone," said the singer, known for numbers like "Phir le aaya dil", "Mitwa" and "Bin tere".
