At the press meet of Velaikkaran, director Mohan Raja said that following Thani Oruvan, he used fourteen assistant directors, two research units, and writers duo Subha for the Sivakarthikeyan starrer. “We have an ensemble of actors in Velaikkaran but all of them will be seen in crucial roles, we haven’t used anyone for namesake”, said the director.
Talking about his heroine Nayanthara, Raja said: “Nayanthara is Tamil cinema’s big gift, she has become a matured actor now. I also feel proud of directing powerful performers like Arvind Swamy and Fahadh Faasil”.
"I’ve raised questions which I always wanted to ask about the society in the film, Velaikkaran will be the voice of common people”, he said.
“I’ve tried to prove that big films can be used convey relevant messages. Generally, message oriented films get a limited budget in Tamil cinema but I want to break the myth. Today, news channels are providing more entertainment than cinema”, said the director, who says that Velaikkaran will talk about how many workers are underpaid for their hard work.
Velaikkaran is slated to release on December 22.
