The new President of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) addressed the media at Ernakulam Press Club today (July 9). The interaction happened after AMMA’s decision on Dileep’s expulsion became controversial.
Mohanlal apologized to the media for not allowing entry to the recently held AMMA general body.
He said that the executive committee decision to expel Dileep following his arrest alleging involvement in the actress molestation case was later found to be not in accordance with AMMA’s by-laws. The issue came up again during the last general body where no one wanted to expel Dileep. Later Dileep made it clear that he is not returning to AMMA right now.
Mohanlal also informed that only two actresses (Bhavana and Remya Nambeesan) have submitted their resignations from AMMA. There were reports that Rima Kallingal and Geetu Mohandas also submitted their resignations, but Mohanlal said he couldn’t find their letters.
AMMA will conduct meeting with WCC, considering the letter from some members demanding a discussion. The AMMA executive committee will take a decision on this.
