The various film organisations have announced a full-fledged strike from Nov 2 onwards, demanding a hike in the service charge. It will lead to a complete standstill in the industry with shootings and screenings being stopped.

Actor and state Minister K B Ganesh Kumar has come out against the impending strike. According to him the various reforms in the industry has been objected to by certain film organisations. There were plans to implement a computerized ticketing procedure and to grade the theatres as per the facilities available. There were also moves to encourage wide releasing of movies. But all these moves have been strongly opposed by certain powerful organisations.

2012 has been a really good year for the Malayalam films with quite a number of hits giving a great boost to the industry. Another standstill can really wean the viewers away from movies.

But then all these could be a joint effort from the various organisations to continue with the existing scenario and not to improve on the quality of the theatres or the system as a whole.
