Music: Sam CS
Lyrics: Sam CS, Vidhya Damodaran, Vivek
Singers: Sam CS, Swagatha S Krishnan
A solid start to the album! ‘Kalloriye’ has Sam CS in his Yaanji Yaanji mode and ends up delivering a foot-tapping romantic track here as well. The synth laced interludes gel well with the rest of the track. Swagatha Krishnan makes an impressive entry and Sam CS, who is doubling up as the singer too, ticks most boxes.
For a second, you would be left wondering if the singer is either Gaana Bala or Anthony Dasan. ‘Kandapadi’ comes off from the same school of several similar songs whose tone is set funny. The first interlude has the hook line being played out in cello. This is that type of a song which holds good because of its quirk content.
Singers: Sam CS, Chinmayi Sripada
Probably the best track of the album! ‘Yedhedho’ is a nice fusion of old school singing with modern arrangements. The singing is very commendable as the tune hits high notes and requires good range to able to sing it. Both Sam & Chinmayi have pulled it off neatly. The guitar riffs give the song a different tempo and the overall output sounds quite fresh. Watch out for the second interlude where Sam CS adds a good mixture of electric guitar and veena!
Singers: Ranjith, Mukesh Mohammed
‘Rajadhi Raaja’ plays out as a tribute to Karthik. The song has a funky flavour to start off with. However, the tune doesn’t hold good after the pallavi segment. After a while, the listeners are bound to sit and spot the Karthik references penned within the lyrics.
A very passable track. The song plays out just like a typical pathos. The arrangements are minimal. Even the choice of the lead singer is a bit predictable here.
Singers: Sam CS, Brindha Sivakumar
A little portion from this track featured in the audio teaser that got released earlier. Brindha Sivakumar makes her debut as playback singer while Sam CS chips in with the humming portions. Although it has been named as the ‘Theme Song’, it functions as a stand-alone track with close to 4 minutes of runtime. The tune is set in a waltzy fashion and the arrangements are supplementary to it. A good listen!
Picks from the album: Kalloriye, Yedhedho Aanene
Album Verdict: Not quite a ‘Vikram Vedha’ but Sam CS delivers again!
Album Rating: 3/5
