The maverick director is back with his next flick, Mugamoodi, a superhero film that has long been his dream to make. Director Mysskin is finally heaving a sigh of relief now that the film is due for release on Friday (Aug 31), after months of toil and hardwork by his team. Speaking to sify.com, he reveals more about his film and what went into the making of it…
What can viewers expect from Mugamoodi?
It’s a complete family entertainer. It got a clean U and I am very happy about that, since I wrote this script keeping family audiences in mind. We only had a couple of words blipped out which I expected. What audiences can expect is that kids will cry seeing Narain’s villainy ! They will be adamant to go see the film and their superhero’s antics! Its basically a grandmother’s tale told in a modern way which will appeal to people. The fights and stunt scenes will surely be much talked about.
You have done a huge hospital set which is very real… How was it working with Jiiva, Narain and Nasser? Tell us about the bar anthem you wrote and sung? What/s next? Are you planning a sequel?
Yes, I am willing to bet that no one will be able to find out that it’s a set when seeing it on screen! The art department has done such splendid work!
Jiiva has taken a lot of trouble for this film which was physically demanding. Narain will be seen in a very different role which will bring him accolades. As for Nasser sir, I will never forget the days I worked with him. He is among the topmost actors in the country. In fact I would ask his suggestions many times and it would be better than what I would have done!
It depicts the lives of various people who come to bars to forget the sorrows of their lives and if you hear the lyrics and watch the visuals you will see how I have portrayed each one’s story…
Yes, UTV has spent crores on this project without compromising. In fact we are doing the sequel together and plans are afoot already.
