Rajan Madhav

He was a former assistant to ace director Mysskin. And now Rajan Madhav, is making his debut with UTV Motion Pictures’ Muran. The film stars Cheran and Prasanna in the lead. Confirmed for a release on Sep 23, Rajan talks about his film to sify.com

What is Muran about?
Muran is a thriller but an entertaining one. It has comedy and action with two heroes, Prasanna and Cheran and three girls, which include Suma Bhattacharya, Haripriya and Nikita.

You faced a lot of opposition about the casting while making the film. Tell us about it.
Well, many people wanted changes in the casting, along the way. We must have met around fifty producers ever since we started hunting for one. But I was adamant that Prasanna would be part of the cast. I firmly believe in his potential as an actor. He is someone who can show so many dimensions as an actor.

Cheran is also a director. Did that part of him interfere in the making, since he was also producing it at first?
Cheran supported us and nearly sixty percent was completed with him as producer, before UTV stepped in, believing in this script. Cheran was very happy with this script right from the beginning. He was very encouraging all through. Of course he gave us inputs which in incorporated whenever needed. But there was never any compulsion from his side.

Where all have you shot the film?
Its shot in Chennai and outskirts. But its also a travel film so a lot was shot in the Bangalore- Chennai highway.

How was it working with your twin Sajjan Madhav as music director?
Being my twin, he was in synch with me most of the time and the four songs and RR have come out very well. There is also one promo song. Fifty percent is his contribution and the other fifty are the visuals that go with it that enhance the film.

What did your mentor Mysskin say?
He saw it and told me, ‘you are a person who knows how to make a film.’ I was thrilled.
