Navodaya Appachan’s  My Dear Kuttichathan (1984) in Malayalam directed by Jijo,  the first 3D film made in India is a cult classic.

The film was dubbed in Hindi as Chhota Chetan in 1997,  with additional scenes featuring Urmila Matondkar and went on to become a super hit.

The film was recently re-shot with new footage with Prakash Raj and Santhanam and was re-released as Chutti Chathan in Tamil. Now during the recent festival season the new My Dear Kuttychathan was re-released in Kerala for the third time in 27 years by Central Pictures.

There is a saying “old is gold” and it has proved true again with the all new My Dear Kuttichathan in 3D digital. Due to digital 3D screening, only limited halls could be arranged for the re-release.

It has surprised the trade in Kerala as My Dear Kuttichathan has become a bigger hit than all other films released during the Ramzan-Onam 2011 season!

The collections speak for itself from 15 stations the film has grossed Rs 1.33 Crore in two weeks, which is amazing. There are still 85 odd stations for the film to be screened and as per trade sources, it may collect a share of Rs 2.5 Cr!
