It was a well attended audio launch on New Year day (01-01-2009) at Sathyam Cinemas.

Two of the biggest stars in Kollywood- Vikram and Surya, the masters- Mani Ratnam and Balu Mahendra, Poet Laureate- Vaali, Music composer- Uttam Singh, Producers and Trade- Ramanarayanan, K.Muralidharan, Pyramid Swaminathan, Kalaipuli Sekharan and K.S Srinivasan were present at the function.

All of them came for the sake one man- Bala the ace director and his team Arya, Pooja and others who were toiling for over two year's on Naan Kadavul.

The audio of the film was launched in style by two students from the Bala School of acting- Vikram and Surya. A slickly made trailer of the film was shown to the invitees and the press.

Quotes, from the celebs at the function.

Vikram- "Bala is an institution by himself. I like the trailer it has the Bala stamp of quality. Arya is going to reach dizzy heights with this film."

Surya- "The trailer shows that it has the Bala touch of class. Arya may have worked over two years on the project; definitely he will gain from this experience. A Bala film is an event by itself and need not have a Diwali or Pongal for its release."

Arya- " For over two years people had only questions about my unkempt long beard and why the film is taking so long. Now that the film is over and I have taken off my beard for Vishnu's Sarwam, the same people are asking me when will the film release?" Pooja- " I,m completely at loss of words. I owe everything to Bala sir for giving me a once in a life time role."

Mani Ratnam- " There used to be the K.Balachander, then the Bharatiraja era, and today there is the Bala influence in Tamil cinema. I came for this function for Bala"

Balu Mahendra- "Bala is like my eldest son, then there is Vetrimaran , all of them have enriched Tamil cinema."

Vaali- "Bala is a man of few words, as he likes to let his films do all the talking. To use a Rajinikanth punchline, Lateaa Vandhalum latestaa Varum!

Uttam Singh- "I helped Ilayaraja with some North Indian flavour to the music of the film. I have worked with Ilayaraja for the last 30 years. He is the only complete Indian composer who could bring about some change to Indian music."

Pyramid SWaminathan- " Naan Kadavul is about self realization in a man's life."

The simple and humble Bala refused to sit on the stage along with others. Towards the end of the function his students Vikram Surya and Arya went down the dais and dragged him on to stage. When the mike was thrust into his hands, all that Bala said was- "I Thank everybody who has turned up for the function" and left the stage in a hurry!
