- Ram Gopal Varma had made his directorial debut with Shiva.
- The last time Nagarjuna-RGV came together was 28 years ago and the project was Shiva.
- The film will be shot in Shiva’s location.
The Shiva duo is back. 28 years after Shiva released, Nagarjuna and RGV are making another action drama along the lines of the classic. In the original, he played a student leader. In this latest movie, which was launched this morning (November 20, 2017) at Annapurna Studios, Nagarjuna plays the role of a cop.
The muhurtham shot was filmed on Nagarjuna with RGV’s mother sounding clapboard and Nagarjuna’s brother Venkat and Yarlagadda Surendra being the guests.
Nagarjuna expressed his happiness over acting under RGV direction again. “28 years ago a film called Shiva changed my life and now again another film/what I’m feeling now is something I cannot describe! I only wish that life was so exciting every day,” Nagarjuna said.
Ram Gopal Varma said, "People are commenting that RGV has lost his mind. Some have opined that juices in me have ended. I agree that I have lost mind but whether my creative juices are flowing or not, you will notice now with this film. "
Their new film is an action drama about a father going after a guy who does terrible things to his family. The revenge drama will start its shoot at the same place where the first filmed Shiva in 1989.
On the first week of November, Nagarjuna had officially announced that he will be playing a cop's role in his next movie, reuniting with Ram Gopal Varma. It has already been reported that the movie will commence regular shoot on November 20.
Nag today tweeted, "Super excited to start RGV’s cop drama with his intense stylised action on nov20/wanted to announce it myself but the media beat me to it."
On the other hand, RGV says he has invited his mother to sound the clapboard for the muhurtham shot. "My mother thought I'll be a good for nothing bum...So I'm making her give clap for my new film with Nag...My revenge completes," he posted a message on FB.
It was RGV's father who did the same for the muhurtham shot for Shiva back in 1989. "My father never believed I can be a director...So I took revenge by making him give clap to the first shot of SHIVA," he added.
Recently, there was a rumour going on about Ram Gopal Varma and Nagarjuna’s upcoming film. The latest rumour is that this film will also star Bollywood Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan. But Ram Gopal Varma has denied it.
He has made it clear that Amitabh Bachchan will not be essaying any role in this film. He also denied that Tabu has been cast in this movie. Akkineni Nagarjuna will play the role of a cop in this action drama.
