Anjathey releasing this Friday (Feb 15) is Myyskin- Narain combo’s big test at the box-office. A lot of people in Kollywood feel that their Chithiram Pesuthadi worked only because of the Gana Ulganathan song Vazhameenum… and the marketing muscle of Oscar Ravichandran.
Myyskin wants to prove that his script and casting was responsible for the success of their last film. So he has avoided Gana Ulganathan this time and sung a song himself, Kannadasan Karaikudi… and picturised it on Narain and new boy Ajmal Ameer on a set depicting a Chennai TASMAC bar shop. The director feels the song is “one of the best picturised bar songs and is sure to top the charts”.
Narain says he spent almost a year with Myyskin doing the script and making the film. Says the actor, who is hoping that the film will change his fortunes in Kollywood- “Anjathey is an edge of the seat action thriller set against a backdrop of friendship, deceit, love and emotions. In the film I play a cop an encounter specialist who is on the lookout for a sleazy and cunning extortionist who is playing a cat and mouse game with me.”
Prasanna plays a negative character for the first time in his career and is said to be deadly and may turn out to be the surprise packet in the film. A new guy Ajmal Ameer is being introduced by Myyskin, in a pivotal role in the film which has music by Sunder C. Babu. Vijayalakshmi is playing the girl next door and Narain’s love interest.
A lot is riding on Anjathey for Myyskin, if the film clicks he will move into the A league of Tamil directors, otherwise he has to start all over again. Nemichand Jabak, the producer of the film who made Naan Avanillai with Jeevan a big hit has spent nearly Rs 4.5 crore on Anjathey for its technical expertise.
Kollywood is eagerly looking forward for the release of Anjathey, which they hope will reverse this years flop trend. Says Myyskin: “Let the film release, it will speak for itself, then I will talk!”
