In a recent interview to Vikatan, Nayanthara’s Airaa director Sarjun revealed that Airaa is the short form of the Airavatham elephant of Lord Indra. “Generally elephants have a sharp memory and as the quality of Airavatham is in perfect sync with one of the characters of Nayanthara in the film, we felt ‘Airaa’ would be an apt title”, said Sarjun.
Sarjun also said that initially, he wanted Nayanthara to only play the brave journalist named ‘Yamuna’ in the film and thought of roping in some other actress to play Bhavani, an innocent girl. But later the director thought that Nayanthara in a dual role would be another attraction in the film.
Produced by KJR Studios, Airaa is all set to release on March 28
