After winning accolades and all the major awards last year for her outstanding performance in Sri Ramarajyam, Nayanthara received the prestigious Nandi Awards on Thursday evening (April 11) a glittery function held at Lalita Kala Toranam in Hyderabad.
Nayanthara looked incredibly dignified and stunning in a blue chiffon saree designed by Nishka Lulla and was the cynosure of all eyes. She received the golden statue and a certificate for Best Actress and a bronze Nandi along with Sri Ramarajyam team which bagged the Best Film.
A visibly excited Nayan spoke to sify.com: “ I am super happy to receive my first Nandi award and that too for Sri Ramarajyam and the icing on the cake was to get it from Amitabh ji who I admire and respect a lot.”
Labelled as the glam queen of south Indian cinema, it is indeed a major high for Nayan to be a part of a mythology like Sri Ramarajyam. She deserves a big thumbs up for having taken chances, and experiment with different genres instead of being safe and predictable.
Adds the actress at her emotional best: “My mom is the happiest after she heard that Amitabh ji handed over the trophy to me. And after I walked out with my two trophies and certificates I felt like a proud student who has just attended my convocation.”
We wish Nayanthara all the best and sum it up with a line that Sri Ramarajyam could not have been possible without Nayanthara.
