Nayanthara fans are ecstatic and overwhelmed at the same time. Ask why? Nayan has signed on the dotted line to be Thala Ajith's heroine for Viswasam.

This dynamic diva sure knows the art of survival in the finicky changing world of Kollywood. She has been there for more than a decade and that too right at the top. No wonder audiences call her the Lady superstar, for her tenacity and fiery determination to stay relevant and deliver hits. She's going from strength to strength consolidating her position as the numero uno actress of this generation.

On Monday, Nayanthara was trending on social media after announcement of her two projects were made official. The big news is that she has pipped all her contemporaries to be Ajith’s heroine in Viswasam directed by Siva. Ajith is one among the three most saleable stars in Tamil commercial cinema, who has a huge opening. Her combination with Ajith has always worked big time – Billa (2007) Aaegan (2008) and Arrambam (2013). Now she is back with Ajith for the fourth time in Viswasam. Nayan also signed a horror film for KJR studios the producers of Aramm.

Nayanthara is smart and always one step ahead of competition and constantly reinvents herself. Last year she proved that she is an actress of substance doing heroine oriented films like Aramm and Dora. She was also a part of  Velaikkaran, a star studded biggie with the hot 'n' happening Sivakarthikeyan. Aramm not only set the cash registers ringing but also proved that Nayan is a versatile actress who commands a good opening and can carry a film on her tender shoulders.

There were news doing the rounds that Anushka was the front-runner to be the heroine in Viswasam but the buzz is that the makers wanted only Nayanthara so that the project would become even more attractive to the trade. They were patiently waiting for the green signal from the queen bee.

Now let us take a look at her 2018 line-up : Imaikkaa Nodigal, which is in post production. Those who saw rushes of the Ajay Gnanamuthu directed film are raving about Nayan who is playing the strong female protagonist in the film which also has Atharva and Rashi Khanna. She has a crucial role in Kolamavu Kokila, a quirky rom-com. In Telugu she is doing the Chiranjeevi multi-starrer Sye Raa Narasimhaa Reddy, in which she has the pivotal heroine role. And in Malayalam she is starting the shoot shortly of her Nivin Pauly film Love Action Drama.

Ajith’s Viswasam will be Nayan’s biggest film of 2018, as it gets ready for a Diwali 2018 release. And the buzz is that she has signed up Kamal Haasan’s Shankar directed Indian 2, though an official announcement is awaited.

Nayan has once again proved that she is the undisputed numero uno of Tamil cinema with her bouquet of films in three south Indian languages.
