There will be no shows in cinema theatres across India on February 23.
This is to protest against the centre`s move to impose service tax on cinema industry.
The Film Federation of India had planned this nation-wide shutdown to condemn the centre`s proposal to levy a 10.3 % service tax on the movie industry.
Trichy Sridhar joint secretary of Tamil Nadu cinema theatres owners association said: "All the cinema theatres in TN will be closed on Thursday."
Abirami Ramanathan, the powerful Theatre Federation president said: "It will be a total shut down. As part of the all India move, all theatres will be closed, no shooting, recording or any film based activity will take place on Thursday."
