Mohanlal’s Natturajavu is the only winner among the Onam releases. It has got a distributors share of Rs 2.27 Crores in 35 days from 51 screens. The film was made on a budget of Rs 1.75 Crores, is still going strong with almost 35 to 40 percent occupancy in Kerala theatres.
Dileep’s Vettam is a disaster at the box-office. Made at a cost of Rs 2.25 Crore, it has been able to mop up a share of Rs 92 Lakhs in 35 days. Last Friday (September 24), the film was discontinued from theatres for a day following a court order.
Subsequently it was restarted from Saturday but the audience thought that the film was caught in legal hassle and shifted and so there was nobody to see the film during the weekend!
Pritviraj’s Vinayan directed Satyam is a wash out. It was discontinued from Shenoys theatre in Ernakulam after four weeks and a share of rupees seven lakh. It will be a miracle if the film collects more than a Crore as the film cost was around Rs 1.75 Crores.
Mammootty’s Kazhcha directed by debutant Blessy is the most talked about film among Onam releases but collections are not encouraging. At Trivandrum Parthas theatre the film has got a share of Rs 4,78,748 in 21 days. During weekends the film is running at 40-45 percent occupancy, Kazhcha may sweep some awards but not the box-office.
