The decision of the producers and the distributors to restrict the number of releases to one per week has now been withdrawn, it seems.
There was big criticism from all quarters after this was made public. A section of the media and even film industry insiders believed that this was a plan to move against the new experiments happening in Malayalam.
But the exhibitors opposed this decision vehemently and offered support to anyone coming forward to release their films.
This week, there will be three releases in Malayalam as of now. Anwar Rasheed’s Ustad Hotel, M A Nishad’s No.66 Madurai Bus and Aji John’s Namukku Parkkaan are certain to release this week, while there are a few more films in the pipeline.
