The Global Indian Music Awards (GiMA) was held recently at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. The event which aims to promote excellence in different genres in the Indian music scene, gave out 10 awards in the Film Category and 12 awards in the Non-film category.
Among the honours presented, there was a 'Global Indian Musician Award' bestowed upon Pandit Jasraj and a tribute to Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman for completing an impressive 20 years in the Indian music industry.
The GiMA awards was hosted by Saif Ali Khan and Parineeti Chopra.
Sonakshi Sinha and Ajay Devgn who star in Son of Sardaar performed for some songs from the film. There were also performances by Sonu Niigaam, Udit Narayan and others.
A lion's share of the Film category awards was taken by the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Rockstar.
