The pretty and perky Piaa Bajpai was missing in Kollywood post KV Anand’s Ko. But now she has re-surfaced with not one but two movies, one of which is a bi lingual in Tamil and Telugu. Piaa is very happy being her own person, discovers sify.com…
Why the long gap after Ko, which made your character Saro very popular?
The thing is that Saro became so popular and I am grateful to KV Anand for that role, but I started getting similar offers which I didn’t want to take up.
I was waiting for the right roles to come by and that has happened now.
So what are the films lined up?
Well, I have just started work on Dhalam, a bi lingual being made in Tamil and Telugu. Naveen plays the hero and its directed by Jeevan Reddy who as AD to RGV earlier. The music is by James Vasanthan.
Whats your role in it?
I play a Tamil Brahmin girl in both languages. It’s a wonderful and strong character and the movie is a romantic thriller. My character is very innocent and a typical Indian girl.
So, have you undergone a makeover for it?
Well, not a makeover but yes, its my first rural role so I am enjoying the Indian look with bottu and chandhanam etc. I am wearing Indian clothes like salwars etc.
Are you part of Sattam Oru Irattarai?
Yes, I am very much there. I signed on for the lead role and am playing it. We just finished one schedule.
There are rumours that certain actors have left the film…
I don’t know about the other cast members. All I know is that I am there and we are doing a photo shoot soon.
