In today’s hearing at the Madras High Court, Murugadoss and Sun Pictures have said that they reached a compromise with Sengol writer Varun Rajendran. Sources say that Varun’s name will be included in the title credits of Sarkar and Murugadoss is said to have sent an email regarding the same.
Although the issue has been sorted out, it’s a big blow for Murugadoss who faced similar plagiarism charges in his films including Ghajini and Kaththi.
It is worth mentioning that in his petition, Varun has also asked Rs 30 lakhs from Murugadoss and Sun Pictures for lifting his story, as both the production house and director reached out for compromise, the financial exchange would also have happened out of the court, murmurs the industry insiders.
When Aramm director Gopi Nainar alleged that Murugadoss copied his story for Kaththi, a similar out-of-court settlement had happened, says reliable sources. A final verdict on the case will be announced soon by Justice Sundar but it’s very clear that the film will now release on November 6 without any legal hurdle.
