The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is an initiative of the Government of the state of Victoria to strengthen cultural and trade ties between Victoria and India.
Priyanka and Shahid were present to promote their latest film, Teri Meri Kahaani. Ilayathalapathy Vijay introduced his film Nanban.
As for Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Jugal Hansra, they presented ‘Talking Through Fabric’ and ’Animation’ masterclasses respectively.
The festival opened with the screening of Vidya Balan's Kahaani and the leading lady of the film is the festival ambassador.
Director Rituparno Ghosh is a special guest at the festival and will be conducting a masterclass on Realism in Indian Cinema on 21 June. The screenwriting team of Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi, will present Thinking Through Laughter, a master class on June 16.
Director Onir also was in attendance to showcase a wide range of films from Bengali arthouse to Bollywood potboilers as well as a special screening of films from Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
