A new woman centric action oriented film Raagini IPS was launched on Thursday, May 24 in Bengaluru.
Glam doll Raagini who is famous for some fantastic songs like `Thuppa Bekaa Thuppa` is playing the title role in the film, that of a daring police officer who takes on the politician-criminal nexus.
The day attained significance as it was Raagini`s 24th birthday. The film is produced by K.Manju and is being directed by Anand P Raju who has already delivered some successful action oriented ventures like Chennamma I.P.S. and Agni I.P.S.
Raagini made her entry to the Kannada film industry after being chosen to participate in the Miss India beauty pageant. She won the Miss Beautiful Hair award in the pageant and then started working in Kannada films.
After working in eighteen films in Kannada, Raagini has now become the most sought after actress in the Kannada film industry. She acted in hit films like Veera Madakari and Kempe Gowda with Sudeep and Kalla Malla Sulla with Crazy Star Ravichandran and Ramesh Arvind.
She has already worked with super stars Upendra and Shivaraj Kumar. This is the first time she is playing a title role in the film and also an action oriented film.
Malashri who is often called the Lady Amitabh of Kannada films clapped the muhurath shot. Raagini in police uniform faced the first shot of the film.
Anand P Raju refused to reveal the story but however said that the script will be based on some real life incidents and also some commercial elements. "We are not exploiting Raagini`s glamour for the film, but are only concentrating on highlighting the character she plays", said Anand Raj.
Raagini said that she was happy to work in a woman centric film in a role specially designed for her. "I have learnt many stunts from the action director Mass Maada who has been training me. I also had a few tips from Malashri madam when she came here for the muhurath shot. I plan to meet her one of these days and seek her special guidance which can be helpful for me in essaying this role", said Raagini.
