After the pre-release promotional event of his film ‘Kaala’ in Hyderabad, Rajinikanth met the Tamil media at Chennai International Airport. “I expected more opposition for Kaala, the thing is any film would be accepted by the audiences only if the content is good. If people dislike the content of the film, it will not run”, said Rajinikanth.

When reporters asked about criticisms saying Rajinikanth met Tuticorin only to ensure good theatrical run for Kaala, the actor said: “I don’t need such publicity stunt at my age. I have been in the industry for 43 years, with people’s love, God’s will and my fans support, there is no necessity to stoop down to that level and promote my film”.

Talking about the ban for Kaala in Karnataka, Rajini said that he still believes that the Kumaraswamy Government will not restrict the film in the state. “There is no objectionable content in the film. In Karnataka, people from various part of the country are eagerly waiting to watch the film. I’m sure senior leaders like Deve Gowda will not agree to ban a film”, said Rajinikanth.

At the pre-release event, Rajinikanth said that Ranjith has handled a socially relevant message with commercial treatment in Kaala. “Ranjith has beautifully has sketched 4-5 characters in Kaala which will stay in the hearts of the audiences”, said Rajinikanth.

Kaala is set in Dharavi backdrop, the film basically talks about the problems people face in the particular locality which is the largest slum in Asia”, said the actor.

On Kamal Haasan’s meet with Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy, Rajini said: “It would good if a cordial relationship exists between the two states”. Earlier, Kamal Haasan said that he didn’t talk about cinema related issues with Karnataka CM but on Kaala ban, the Dasavatharam actor said “Protesting against films and seeking ban is just wrong. I believe in the saying truth alone triumphs, Vishwaroopam was an example. Hope Kaala too successfully cross all hurdles and perform good business at the box office. Cinema has become a soft target to these people”.

Produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films, Kaala is slated to release on June 7.
