Rajinikanth blames anti-social elements for Sterlite protest

Superstar Rajinikanth enjoys a massive fan base for his style, energy level and mass appeal on the big screen.

When Rajinikanth used to shy away from politics and preferred only to be a film star, he avoided media. But the moment, the actor expressed his interest in politics, the actor restarted the habit of holding press meets. On Wednesday, Superstar lost his temper after, few media members asked him uncomfortanble questions

A young victim of Sterlite protest from Tuticorin asked ‘Who are you?’ and Superstar humbly replied ‘Naan Dhaan Pa Rajinikanth’ (I’m Rajinikanth). The youngster is said to be upset as Rajinikanth didn’t visit Tuticorin in the 100 days of protest.

Later interacting with the media, Rajinikanth said “Anti-social elements have intruded in Tamil Nadu, the Government should find them. They are responsible for the violence in the Sterlite protest. Also, people should not be protesting for everything because such agitation would make Tamil Nadu into a graveyard”.

This speech of Rajinikanth earned him a negative image on the social media. Multiple hashtags including #நான்தான்பாரஜினிகாந்த் and #BoycottKaala were trending on Twitter. When media asked Rajinikanth on the opposition for his speech, the actor lost his cool and said “ Don't ask me how I said anti-social elements intruded in the protest. I know everything. I will not accept any form of violence against cops. The government should unmask anti-social elements”.

Will this hatred earned by Rajinikanth with his recent Tuticorin visit affect the box office collection of Kaala? A section of Tamil people are also offended by Rajinikanth’s speech in the Sterlite issue and already, Kannadigas are upset with the actor’s stance in the Cauvery issue. As Rajinikanth mentioned in one of his earlier speeches, politics is not an easy game.
