Filmy personalities encashing on their popularity and garnering votes is not something new in India. It has been happening since years, and if statistics are to be believed, then 90% of the film fraternity is connected to politics in some or the other way.
It was very recently that Sandalwood actress Rakshitha was almost announced as a JDS candidate to contest from Mandya constituency which has been the most watched out constituency in Karnataka.
But now, the tables have turned upside down for the actress as she has been denied a ticket from the JDS party to contest elections from Mandya constituency due to some unrevealed reasons.
This denial has definitely upset the pretty lady and has made her jump to another party which actually has an inflow of many candidates from other parties. The latest to join the bandwagon is Rakshitha.
Rakshitha who started her political career about 3 years ago was the president of the women’s wing of the BSR Congress.
She had recently joined the Janata Dal (Secular) after the former denied her ticket to contest the Assembly election. When the same thing repeated with JD(S) which allegedly ignored her plea for ticket for the Mandya Lok Sabha seat, she has now pledged to settle for BJP.
Rakshitha has also announced that the ultimate motive of joining BJP is to do her bit to help Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi become the Prime Minister.
With Rakshitha being denied a ticket to contest from Mandya, the other actress turned politician Ramya can now breathe a sigh of relief, who otherwise had a good competitor.
