She may have not contested the election, but she certainly has become the lucky mascot for the Congress party. Ramya, who is a member of the Youth Congress in Karnataka, has a trick up her sleeve. All the candidates that she
campaigned for emerged victorious in the elections. Moreover, the Congress has assumed power in the state.
Former ministers D K Shivakumar and R Roshan Baig, N A Harris, U T Khader, Dinesh Gundu Rao and several others won the elections. Interestingly, Ramya had campaigned for all of them. The actress could not control her joy. She even ttweeted, “Roshan baig uncle too wins!! So far everybody I went campaigning for have won.. Fingers crossed!!
Of late the actress has been actively involved with the Congress. Ramya has already become adept at politics. For instance, she was not seen campaigning for senior actor Ambarish, who contested and won from Mandya because of the political sensitivity in that district. Ambarish and former CM S M Krishna are not on good terms and they disagreed on various issues. In the past, Ramya had campaigned for Krishna in Mandya district and the actress seemed to have played it safe this time by staying away from Mandya.
There are strong indications that Ramya, who belongs to the dominant Vokkaliga community, might be fielded for the Parliament elections next year. Apparently, the actress may be asked to contest from any of south Karnataka constituencies by the Congress. It looks like Ramya, after ruling the Sandalwood BO for more than a decade, is preparing herself for a successful transition into politics!
