Sandalwood’s top actress, Ramya, an active member of the Congress, has finally hit the election campaign trail. The actress was seen campaigning in favor of former minister, R Roshan Baig in
Shivajinagar in Bangalore on Sunday.
Dismissing charges of staying away from campaigning for the party, Ramya said her schedule commenced from Sunday. “I was busy shooting for my film; then, I went abroad. The party leaders
were very much aware of my movement. I have reported for campaigning, as instructed to me by the leaders,” she said.
Ramya will be campaigning extensively for various Congress candidates across the state and she said that her homework had been proper. As a member of the youth Congress, it was widely believed that Ramya would contest the Assembly polls scheduled for May 5. However, the top-ranked actress seems to have preferred to stay away from electoral politics.
She is expected to campaign for other Congress candidates in Bangalore, including N A Harris and Dinesh Gundu Rao and also for former minister, D K Shivakumar in Kanakapura.
The actress delivered several hits, including Siddlingu and Katari Veera Sura Sundarangi, in 2012 and is eagerly waiting for the release of her films this year. The actress is currently shooting for Neer
Dose, a comedy film featuring Jaggesh. She also completed shooting an untitled fantasy movie, directed by Kodi Ramakrishna.
