Sudeep’s much-hyped movie Ranna, has created a lot of buzz ever since the announcement. The movie which is an official remake of Pavan starrer Attarintiki Daaredi, initially had claimed that the title of the movie would be Atte Manege Dariyelli after which the title was zeroed down to Ranna.
So, how much did the Ranna title cost to the producer? Well sources say 3 to 5 lakhs! This is one of the ‘huge’ amounts that have been spent till date, for a movie title, in Sandalwood.
Initially, the title Ranna was registered by Psycho director Devdutta. The director agreed to give the title without any money. But Sandalwood sources say that just when producers were about to unveil the title on Sudeep's birthday, just one day before, Devdutta demanded a ransom amount to give the title. “The title-deal was finalised to Rs 5 lakh,” a source said.
“Initially when Devdutta demanded huge amount, producers wanted to finalise the title as Bhargava, however later, they changed the mind and agreed to buy Ranna title for the quoted amount. This is one of the costliest amount paid for the title,” the source added.
Ranna, directed by Nandakishore, also marks the comeback of yesteryear actress Madhoo in Kannada. Sudeep will be seen romancing both Haripriya and Rachitha Ram. Apt to the title and the amount paid for it, the film is said to be one of the high budget films in the Kannada industry. Shooting of the film is fast progressing and is expected to release in the beginning of 2015.
