The recent legal notice of Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja to SP Balasubramaniam saying that the singer shouldn’t perform his compositions without paying royalty has been the talk of the town. Gangai Amaren, younger brother of Ilaiyaraaja has now raised various questions on the legal notice sent by the composer.

“This is very wrong. Does Manikavasagar, Vallalar, MS Viswanathan and G Ramanathan ever said that others shouldn’t sing and listen to their songs?”, asked Gangai Amaren.

The director added: “What are you going to do by earning so much money? Don’t make this a business, we’ve already made enough money as remuneration”.

Gangai Amaren concluded by saying “You have composed all these songs only for people. If you don’t want them to sing and listen to your music, then why you did you compose in the first place?”.
