First six months has passed this year. In movie jargon, the interval has come. In the first half of 2018, Tollywood has witnessed some massive hits like Rangasthalam (all-time third highest grossing movie), Bharat Ane Nenu, Mahanati, Bhaagamathie, Tholi Prema and more.
Actresses like Anushka, Keerthy Suresh and Raashi Khanna have scored good hits this year. But the first half of 2018 definitely belongs to Samantha. Even after her marriage, she is on top of the game. This is a welcome trend. She has proved that married actresses can also deliver massive hits. In the first six months of 2018, we have seen her in three movies and all the three were hits. Her first and biggest release was Ram Charan's Rangasthalam that went on to collect more than Rs 125 Cr worldwide thereby setting the record of all-time third highest grosser among Telugu movies. In the role of village belle Ramalakshmi, she wowed all. The role became one of the best in her long career.
Later, she appeared in Keerthy Suresh's Mahanati that collected nearly Rs 42 Cr worldwide. Although she is not the main lead, her role of a journalist who writes the story of Savitri won great appreciation. Her performance in the climax sequence showed her maturity as an actress.
She rounded off the hat-trick with dubbed movie Abhimanyudu that starred Vishal in the lead role. The thriller became a sleeper hit. All in all, the first half of 2018 belongs to Samantha.
