Santhanam made a rare public appearance on Sunday evening at a five star to meet the media. It was part of promotions for his forthcoming Vallavunukku Pullum Aayudham (VPA), which his home banner Hand Made Films is making in association with PVP Cinemas.
The comedy superstar as a rule does not take part in any of his film promotions. Santhanam at the meet said: “All these years I was just a part of a film as comedian, now with VPA, I’m doing a full-fledged hero rule. So it is necessary that I promote it as I’m not only the hero but also one of the producers of the film.”
Santhanam looking trim and dashing said: “ Playing hero in a Tamil commercial film is not a joke, you have to be a good dancer, actor and make it look convincing on screen. As a comedian, I was just another character in a film and could get away with a punchline or two.”
About whether he will continue doing only hero roles in future, Santhanam shot back : “ Till the other day I was on television, then became a comedian, turned producer and here I am, debuting as hero. Sometime in future I may direct a film. I will go with the tide.”
PVP Cinemas soft-spoken Rajeev Kamineni confirmed that once the censor is over they will announce officially the release date. They are targeting May 16 as the release date of the film. Rajeev said that the film has come out really well and they are confident that the film will be liked by the masses and will work at the box-office.
The others present on the occasion were VPA director Srinath, heroine Ashna Zaveri and music director Siddharth Vipin. The makers of the film are confident that VPA will be a box-office hit.
