Thalapathy Vijay’s Sarkar is holding super strong at the Tamil Nadu box office. In Chennai alone, the film grossed around Rs 7.3cr in just four days. Trade pundits say that the Vijay starrer is likely to touch the 10cr gross mark by the end of this week. The overall Tamil Nadu gross has also crossed the 70cr mark.

Sources say that though the word of mouth is just okay, the controversy has certainly helped the film to attract more audiences to theaters in Tamil Nadu. On the downside, audiences in Kerala are not impressed with the film because it focused more about local politics which is alien to them. Sarkar's situation is also not encouraging in the US and only the weekend collection will decide the fate of the film. So far Sarkar grossed around 650k$ in the US and it should collect another 650k$ to achieve break-even status.

However, Karnataka and Telugu distributors of Sarkar are happy as they are likely to get back their investment by the end of this week. Sarkar is also holding well in UAE, European countries and Sri Lanka.
