When a film becomes successful, directors prefers to make a sequel to deliver an easy hit but most of the times, they either want to produce it themselves or sign to do the film for a producer who gives them a hefty remuneration and budget. But the producers of the original version are also not willing to give way the title.
Because of the above said reason, the sequel of Enthiran has been titled as ‘2 Point 0’ and the third installment of Singam was named as Si-III and there are many such examples. Last week, director Sarkunam announced that K2 is the title of his new film which will have his hit Kalavani pair—Vemal and Oviya.
The original producer of Kalavani, Prem Nazir has now come with a statement that the title ‘Kalavani 2’ belongs to him and he has formally registered the title. As per Prem Nazir’s statement, Sarkunam cannot advertise K2 as the sequel of Kalavani because the title ‘Kalavani 2’ not belongs to him.
