Due to the reshuffle of the released dates of two biggies—VIP 2 and Vivegam, several mid-budget and small budget Tamil films are now in queue for September release. In fact, many of them are now announcing their release dates to avoid confusions in the trade.

On September 1, CV Kumar’s directorial debut Maayavan and Vijay Sethupathi’s long delayed Puriyaatha Pudhir will be hitting the screens. Santhanam’s Server Sundaram team has announced that they will be releasing their film on September 7 (Thursday) and Vikram Prabhu’s Neruppuda team too has confirmed that they are planning to have a theatrical release on September 8.

We also hear that Vijay Sethupathi’s Karuppan and Vishnu Vishal’s Katha Nayagan will be releasing on September 8. Sources say that many small budget films will also be joining the battle with the above-mentioned films. On September 27, Mahesh Babu’s Spyder will release in both Tamil and Telugu while Sivakarthikeyan’s Velaikkaran will be releasing on September 29. If things progress as planned, Bala’s Naachiyaar starring Jyothika and GV Prakash will also join these two films for Pooja holidays.

The release date of all these films have been informed to distributors now to avoid unnecessary clashes at the box office but trade sources say that more movies will announce their September release plans by the end of August.
