After almost a decade, director Shekhar Kapur will make a comeback to Hindi films.

His last Hindi film was the much-acclaimed and controversial Bandit Queen after which he moved to Hollywood making the Oscar nominated Elizabeth and off lately The Four Feathers.

But finally Shekhar Kapur has come back to Bollywood with his futuristic film titled Paani.

In a press conference at IIFA, Singapore, the director made an official announcement. While the cast of the film (yet to be declared) will be completely Indian, Kapur has roped in the best Hollywood technicians for the crew of his film.

For the $20 million mega-project, he has entered a production agreement with prolific Oscar-winner Hollywood producer Barrie Osborne (of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Matrix and Face Off fame). A.R.Rahman will compose the music while Dave Stewart will handle the background score.

Paani is set in an Indian metro city, 15 years from now. The story is based on the theme of global warming, which will cause water scarcity and water mafia will take charge. The film will be entirely shot on a massive set to be erected in India to illustrate an advanced look.

The second film Kapur will work on is Fearless Nadia, which is based on the true-life story of yesteryear Bollywood stunt actress Nadia who was married to filmmaker Homi Wadia. The actress of Australian origin featured in Hindi films like Hunterwali and Jungle Queen.

Apart from these two films, Kapur is also working on a film on Nelson Mandela titled Long Walk to Freedom starring Morgan Freeman in the title role and another on a sequel to Elizabeth. Indiafm
