Shiva Raj Kumar’s Santheyalli Nintha Kabeera was launched amidst huge fanfare on Ugadi festival at palace grounds, yesterday.
Speaking exclusively to Sify.com, Associate director of the film Sandeep Urs said: “Today, we remember Kabira because of his non-violence methods; Gandhiji too was inspired by Kabira for the same. The movie’s theme is based on this. Kabira raised his voice against the harassment of the poor by the rich in the name of rules and religion. This Kabira too strives hard to attain equality in the society and non violence is his weapon,” he said.
“‘I don’t believe in weapons’, Kabira quotes this a couple of times in the film; it can be considered as one of the punch lines in the film,” he added.
While Puneeth Rajkumar clapped for the film, Tamil actor Sharath Kumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar were present at the launch. Ismail Darbar from Bollywood is composing songs for the songs penned by Gopal Vajapayee; Indra Babu of Kabbaddi fame, who was earlier known as Narendra Babu, is directing the film.
