Noted director Shyamaprasad, has gone to court against Kerala Government run theatres – Kairali and Sree. His Artist which was running successfully was removed before it touched hold-over figure (trade term for minimum net collection before a film can be stopped).

Shyamaprasad’s critically acclaimed Artist starring Fahad Faasil and Ann Augustine was being screened at Sree in Thiruvananthapuram and Trichur. The film has been running at 80 to 90 % of capacity, but was suddenly yanked off to make way for Mammootty’s Onam release Deivathinte Swantham Cleetus.

A peeved Shyamaprasad said : “The government run screens in Kerala instead of promoting good cinema is in the hands of superstar mafia. My Artist was doing extremely well and had not touched hold-over. We decided to go to court and hearing will be on September 23, till then Sree will play Artist.”
