'Skyfall' has become the first ever 007 film to be nominated for the top prize at the Producers Guild of America Awards (PGA).

The nomination is a boost to Skyfall's Oscar chances and comes just days after the James Bond thriller passed the 1 billion dollar mark at the global box office, the BBC reported.

The PGA award is seen as a good indicator of which film could win best picture at the Oscars, as the winner of the award has gone on to win best picture 16 times in the last 23 years at the Oscars.

Star-studded musical 'Les Miserables' and Steven Spielberg's 'Lincoln' have also been included on the list of the 10 shortlisted movies.

Ben Affleck and George Clooney have been nominated this year, as the producers of the Iran hostage drama 'Argo,' while Kathryn Bigelow is nominated for 'Zero Dark Thirty.'

Also featuring in the list is Ang Lee's shipwreck tale 'Life of Pi' and the quirky comedy 'Silver Linings Playbook.'

Wes Anderson's 'Moonrise Kingdom' and mythical indie film 'Beasts of the Southern Wild' are also in the running.

Nominations for the outstanding producer of theatrical motion pictures are:

1. Argo

2. Beasts of the Southern Wild

3. Django Unchained

4. Les Miserables

5. Life of Pi

6. Lincoln

7. Moonrise Kingdom

8. Silver Linings Playbook

9. Skyfall

10. Zero Dark Thirty (ANI)
