Jiiva is one actor in Tamil cinema who is closely following Hollywood and makes it a point to watch the latest critically acclaimed films.
On Thursday night Jiiva was one of the few Kollywood stars who attended the premiere of Brad Pitt’s brilliant The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, at Seasons in Sathyam Cinemas.
After the film, the actor said: “ Can we ever dream of making such kind of films? The make-up of Brad Pitt is awesome. No wonder it won three Oscars for make-up, visual effects and art direction.”
Jiiva after Thenavattu and Siva Manasula Sakthi (SMS) is very hot, but has not signed a single film. The Kollywood grapevine has it that he is asking for Rs 1.5 crore to sign a new film.
Says Jiiva: “It is just figment of somebody’s imagination running wild. I’m always open to good scripts, for me story is more important than anything else. I ‘m hearing a lot of scripts but hardly anything has excited me. I’ am now on the lookout for something meaty to come my way.”
The actor says he has not signed any new films. The project with Cheran and Charmi as of now has been put in the backburner. Added Jiiva: “ I’am not in a hurry. SMS is a super hit, let me just relish it for some time. Meanwhile let the right script come from any youngster, I’ am willing to consider it.”
Jiiva’s Siva Manasula Sakthi has been declared a hit by the trade. In Chennai city and Coimbatore it is turning out to be a sleeper hit. From this Friday (Feb 27), the film has been shifted from the small to the bigger screen at Sathyam cinemas, with more number of shows, while at Mayajaal the shows per day has been increased to eight !
