STR has become noted director Mani Ratnam's blue eyed boy. During the shoot of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam the actor-director duo shared a great rapport and were seen hanging out with each other.
The actor opened up to sify.com: "Mani sir treated me like a baby. We completed the schedule well ahead of time and he has heard so much about me that when he saw me turning up for shoot ahead of everyone, he was shocked (laughs). He is class apart and it was one of the best units that I've worked with so far"
The shoot of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam was going in and around Chennai for the past few weeks and the buzz is that almost 70 percent is complete. Now Simbu has a portion to be shot abroad along with few scenes with Vijay Sethupathi. And the beauty of it is that Mani Ratnam and STR have become so fond of each other that few in the unit say that "a mutual admiration club" has been formed.
Recently, STR who participated in the popular reality show ‘Super Singer’ was a huge hit garnering high TRP's. Especially, the actor’s frank opinion about Dhanush, Vijay and Nayanthara were lapped up by the viewers.
“I see Vijay sir as a role model. Though I’m a big fan of Ajith, Vijay sir accepted my honesty. I’m proud to be a brother of this successful Tamilian”, said STR. On Nayanthara, STR said “The lip-lock poster in Vallavan created a lot of controversies but she said that as a director, you have a vision and I will act in the scene. I think because of her dedication, she has become a big star now”. STR praised Dhanush saying that there are many things to learn from the Vada Chennai actor.
STR who has shed weight for the role in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, thanked his fans for the unconditional support they gave him during his tough times. On work front, Simbu will be signing a big project soon.
