Kannada superstar has appreciated the efforts of the makers of the movie Case No 18/9. The movie, which released last month, had to make way for other movies in theatres. The producers V K Mohan, Praveen Kumar Shetty and Kanthi Shetty had organized a special screening for Sudeep at a private theatre in Bangalore recently. Sudeep suggested to them to release the movie again.
“I am not sure why such movies are not patronized. This movie is close to reality and has a message for society. All the actors have performed well. Importance has been given to the nuances of film-making. This is a quality movie, which deserved better treatment,” he said.
Directed by Mahesh Rao, Case No 18/9 features Sindhu Lokanath, Nirranjan, Shwetha Pandit, and Rangayana Raghu. It is a remake of the Tamil movie Vazhakku Enn 18/9 and the original essence of the movie has been retained from the start till the end. Consequently, the movie is a frame-to-frame remake of the original and is no less than the Tamil cinema. Actress Harshika Poonachcha has danced to an item number in the movie.
Case No 18/9 has been clearly made for a particular segment of audience, but the absence of top stars may have not drawn them to the theatres. The director was appreciated for his technical brilliance, grip over narration and impressive film-making. Camera work by Sabha Kumar and music by Arjun Janya are the highlights of the movie.
