Friendships in tinsel town are brittle.
It is now official that Suriya’s Gautham Menon directed Dhruva Nakshthram will not take off. Suriya has finally released an official statement that he will not be doing the film.
In fact sify.com had broken the story some months back. At that time both parties had pooh-poohed the story and said it “was a figment of somebody’s imagination running wild”. Suriya in fact in all his interviews made it clear that Gautham is re-working the script.
Gautham Menon who is in deep financial mess had tweeted a month back : “ Reworked a script for Suriya. Hopefully we will start very soon. Lots of writing, lots of scripts in hand now. Here to good times ahead.”
However, Dhruva Nakshthram has turned out to be a nightmare for Gautham Menon. Right from the beginning Suriya was not interested in doing the film for personal reasons. Suriya has released a press statement to the press that he has opted out of the project.
In his statement, he blamed Gautham Menon for the delay in the script. The star made it clear that he cannot wait any longer as he has a responsibility towards his fans. And he also added that he had not been shooting for over six months, after completing Singam 2, and enough is enough. In short Suriya is moving on to his next project with Lingusamy.
The actor also listed out his past bitter experience of having worked with Gautham in the incomplete Chennayil Oru Mazhaikalam, which was shelved. He says the film did not have a proper script, but Gautham held a Pooja and shot for a week, and then quietly put the project on the backburner.
Suriya now says that he and Gautham do not have any vibes and they are diametrically opposite in their ideology. He signs of by saying that he will not work with Gautham Menon.
Meanwhile Gautham Menon is yet to react to Suriya’s angry press release, which was issued late night on Thursday. Watch this space, can expect more fireworks.
