Suriya is well known for his Good Samaritan image. Recently, he donated Rs 10 lakhs to AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) for their Guru Dakshana scheme (pension plan for senior artists) at the 25th anniversary of the association held at Trivandrum. It was Mohanlal who personally invited Suriya for the Amma Awards and the actor readily agreed, as he has a huge fan base in Kerala.
Speaking at the award show, Suriya said: “I feel lucky to share the stage with these two legends—Mohanlal and Mammootty” and he also asked Mammootty on how the veteran actor still look handsome and young.
Suriya heaped praise on the quality movies which are being made in Malayalam cinema and called it as the best film industry in India. Suriya said he happened to see both Take Off and Sudani From Nigeria recently.
Suriya said that nearly 500 students from Tamil Nadu had visited Kerala to attend NEET exams and the state provided them a wonderful hospitality. On the film front, Suriya is busy with Selvaraghavan’s NGK.
