Sushant Singh has been taking kick-boxing lessons, off lately. And no this is not on a personal front but on a professional basis. He is preparing for a role in his upcoming movie Lahore.
“Yes, I am learning kick boxing for this film called Lahore where kick boxing is the basic theme of the film. I play the role of a kick boxer. Our instructor Mark had come down from Holland. He is a martial arts expert. He taught us for three and half months and now he has gone back, so we are continuing by our own. This climax of the film is set as a boxing match between Indians and Pakistanis. This is about the championship, which is going on in Lahore. Unfortunately I am not in the climax as I have been eliminated before that.”
Lahore marks the directorial debut of Sanjay Chauhan. “The set up of the movie is all new. And there are two new faces in the movie. Actress Shradha Nigam will be cast opposite me.”
And what’s happening on his much-talked about role as Samba in Ram Gopal Varma’s Sholay. “The Samba in Ramu’s version has much bigger role and more developed character. He is just next to Gabbar and look-wise also he is very modern and funky. There are no similarities between the old Samba and my character in this movie. They are totally different to each other. The setting has changed. It’s somewhere from Mumbai. I can’t divulge more about my character because officially I am not allowed to talk about it.”
Apart from these two movies Sushant will appear in Mani Shankar’s Mukhbir and Vikram Bhatt’s Red. He has also worked in a children’s film called Tsunami 81.
