Tamil Nadu government has issued tax-free certificates to two major Friday (May 26) releases— Thondan and Brindhaavanam. As GST will be implemented from July 1, many Tamil films are trying to have theatrical release in May and June so that they can avoid paying 28% tax.
Directed by Samuthirakani, Thondan also has Vikranth, Sunainaa and Ganja Karuppu in important roles, the film deals with emergency services and the importance of humanity.
Radha Mohan of Mozhi fame has directed Brindhaavanam, where Arulnithi plays a hearing and speech impaired person and actor Vivek plays himself in the film.
Meanwhile, Tubelight, a small film based on Auditory Processing Disorder (ADP) has postponed its release date from May 26 to June 2.
