The wheel has come a full circle. Vadivelu, after campaigning in the 2011 assembly elections for the DMK, went into cold storage following AIADMK victory.
Now as 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign kick starts, the one time comedy king is back as hero in Jagajala Pujabala Tenaliraman (JPT), produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram’s AGS Entertainment.
Vadivelu plays a dual role in the folklore period film, which is directed by Yuvaraj Dayalan. Meenakshi Dixit plays his leading lady and others in the cast are Radha Ravi, Manobala, Mansoor Ali Khan, Santhana Bharathy, G M Kumar and several others are part of the cast.
The film has music by D Imman and the audio launch is being planned by the end of the month. D Imman had tweeted: “Tenaliraman audio is designed to achieve the sound of early 60's and 70's.Melody making and orchestration is set to the period with the mix and master of today's digital sound. This film's music did take me for a time travel and hope it does with the listeners too…Praise God!”
Tenaliraman is a big budget mass entertainer. Art director Prabhakaran had put up huge sets replicating fort and palaces. Also important scenes were shot in Coutrallam, Acchangkoil and Pudhucherry. It is a comedy caper all through. Ramnath Shetty cranks the camera. Veteran dialogue writer Aaroordas has penned dialogues that would not only make everyone laugh but also think a lot.
AGS is planning to release JPT in April/May, as big summer release. The film is targeting the holiday season children and lady audiences looking for a fun film.
